How long does setup take?
Creating a household takes about 30 seconds. A realistic full setup — housemates invited, chores and bills added — is 15 to 30 minutes, done once.
Does everyone need the app?
Everyone gets their own free account via your invite link. The Shack runs in any browser, installs as an app from the browser (PWA), and has an iOS app.
What does it cost?
The free plan covers all 24 features for up to 5 housemates, no credit card required — and every new household starts with a 14-day Pro trial. Pro is $6/month (or $60/year, two months free) and adds up to 10 housemates, the AI suite (Quick Add, bill scanning, meal plans, recipes, daily briefs, weekly digests and Harmony), effort-weighted Fair Share, spending analytics with CSV/PDF export, recurring expense auto-split, 200 receipt scans a month, two-way calendar sync, cleaner and sitter accounts, and 10GB of document storage.
What roles can housemates have?
Admins manage household settings; members use everything; kid accounts get a simplified view of their own chores. On Pro, cleaner and sitter accounts get limited access for just the time they need it.
Is our household data private?
Yes — everything you add is private to your household and visible only to the people you invite. Presence is a manually set status, never GPS tracking.
