Does the list update while someone is shopping?
Yes — the list syncs in real time, so items added at home appear on the shopper's phone straight away.
Can we have more than one list?
Yes. Alongside the main shopping list, The Shack's Lists feature lets you create any number of shared lists — packing lists, hardware-store runs, anything.
Does it work with meal planning?
Yes — plan dinners in the meal planner and push each meal's ingredients onto the shopping list in one tap.
Does ticking things off update our inventory?
Yes, and it's on by default. Ticking an item tops up its match in your inventory; unticking it puts the count back. Admins choose the behaviour in Settings → Shopping & inventory: top up matches only, add everything the house buys, sync just the items you flag, or switch the link off entirely.
Can The Shack add things before we run out?
Yes — and that's free on every plan, switched on from the start. The Shack works out how often your house buys each item from your own shopping history and puts it back on the list about a day before you'd usually need it, marked as a suggestion with the reason. Delete a suggestion and it backs off. It also skips anything already on the list or still in stock in your inventory.
Does the prediction need Pro or the AI features?
No. The everyday prediction is plain arithmetic on your own shopping history — free, and it works with AI switched off. Pro adds a weekly AI pass on Sundays that catches irregular buying habits and pantry items nearing their expiry date, and it respects your household's AI setting like everything else.
